8/31 Water temperatures are dropping finally and fishing around the county has been pretty good overall. We have been fishing the Tuesday night tournaments with CV league and good numbers of fish have been caught on Hammond and Cowanesque. We have been getting most of ours on creature baits. Reaction Innovations Sweet Beavers are working very well for in the weeds and near timber. Other anglers did well last night on crankbaits fishing the points at Hammond. Strike King series 3 and 3XD's have been a very popular crankbait lately on all the lakes. Try a sexy shad or chartruese shad color.
Trollers are picking up nice walleyes, perch, and a few hybrid stripers on both Tioga and Hammond. Crawler harnesses continue to work very well! purples, blues, silver, and natural baitfish patterns are all working. Anglers are finding the walleyes holding tight to the bottom, while the stripers are suspended higher in the column.
Hamilton continues to fish well too. Pressure has been minimal and anglers are finding nice bass all along the shorelines using plastics, topwater, and live shiners. Bullhead fishing has been very good in the evenings too.
The Tioga spillway is fishing very well lately for catfish. Many small walleyes and smallmouth are being caught too. Cats have been plentiful, including a few pushing 30 inches. Night crawlers, shiners, and stink baits are working best.
Enjoy the holiday weekend! Get out and FISH!
