4/24/17 Water levels are still up on most of the area lakes and streams.  However, they are coming down and everything but Tioga lake is open to fishing.

From the Corps' Facebook page

"Updates for Tioga-Hammond & Cowanesque Lakes. The Cowanesque, South Shore Recreation Area West and East Boat Launches are open. The Ives Run Camper's Boat Launch is open. The northern gate on the Railroad Grade Trail, the Ives Run Day Use Boat Launch, and the Lambs Creek Boat Launch are all closed due to high water levels."

We will update again when the Corps posts on their page.

Pine Creek is still high, but water clarity is good.  Anglers caught some nice trout the past few days using waxworms, butterworms, baby nightcrawlers, and redworms.  Black roostertails, Black/Gold panther martins, and gold or rainbow trout thomas spoons also produced fish.  Many are doing well on the small streams too using wax worms, butterworms, and salmon eggs.

At Hamilton, anglers are doing best on live minnows or powerbait for trout.  Corn Yellow and Chartruese Garlic powerbaits have been the hot colors.  Orange and rainbow have also worked. Phoebes, Kastmasters, and Thomas spoons worked well for casting and trolling too.  Plain silver or gold have been best, but brighter chartruese colors have worked too.  Crappies are being caught along the shoreline near the dam.  The water has come down quite a bit in the last few days, though it is still stained. Live minnows have been best.

Hills Creek continues to fish well for many.  The crappies are spotty still, but anglers have been able to catch decent numbers of them and perch using live minnows and small chartruese twister tails and paddle tails.  The topwater bass bite has been great too.  Whopper ploppers yielded a number of nice fish in shallow water.  Bass are moving in shore and getting ready for the spawn.

With the high water, little is happening at Hammond and Cowanesque.  Visibility is very poor on both lakes and reports have been far and few between.  Soon things will improve though.  I think we will start seeing some better reports by the weekend.  Keep checking back here for updates or check out our facebook page.

Good luck fishing.
