5/4/17

Cold, rainy conditions have moved in these past few days.  With that, lake temperatures are dropping and the crappies are holding off shore.  Yes, a few are being caught, but it is tough right now.  The lakes are still dirty from the last bout of rain.  With continued cool temperatures, it is unlikely the bite will improve for the weekend.  Hopefully, "normal" May weather will return next week.  We will be on the water every day this week.  Feel free to call if you don't see a report here (570-724-5138)

Troufishing continues to be good around the county.  Pine Creek and Cowanesque River were restocked these past few days.  Pine is still up and with more rain coming, it will likely come up some more.  However, fishing has been good.  Butterworms and waxworms have been the hot baits!  Kastmaster spoons, brown roostertails, yellow roostertails, gold panther martins were all popular lures too.

Hills Creek Lake continues to fish well.  Bass, pickerel, perch, crappies, and bluegills are all being caught.  waxworms and nightcrawlers have been best for the panfish.  Bass were caught on topwaters, small stickbaits, and live shiners these past few days.  Whopper ploppers, Gold rapala floaters, and minnow colored Rapala X-raps were among the favorites.

We will try to update again tomorrow.  Again, please feel free to call if you have any questions.  Hopefully we can dodge another big rainstorm and things will turn around on the crappie bite soon.  It's gotta happen soon!

Good luck fishing!
