It's been a great few days of fishing around the county.  Anglers are doing well on most of the area lakes and streams.

Pine Creek is fishing VERY well.  Bait fishermen are doing best with waxworms or butterworms.  Yellow, Brown, Black, and silver roostertails were popular too.  Fly fishermen have been greeted with strong hatches every evening.  Brown Drakes, Green Drakes, Sulphurs, BWOs, Caddis, and more have been providing good action.  Afternoon/early evening, the March Brown hatches have been good.  Anglers found lots of rising trout in many areas from the DHALO west to Gaines/Rexford area.  So long as we don't get much rain, this action should continue through the week.  water temps and levels are great right now.

Trout fishing has been good on both Hamilton and Beechwood.  Powerbait has been very popular with chartruese, rainbow, pink, and white, all being popular choices this week.  waxworms or live minnows under a bobber are also producing fish.  Fly activity has been great in the evening when the lake calms down too.  Trolling with small rapalas, or casting from shore with Kastmasters, Thomas Buoyant Minnows, or Little Cleos has been effective.  Try Silver, silver/blue, chartruese, black nickel, or bronze colors.

Crappie fishing was good on Tioga, Hamilton, Cowanesque, and Beechwood all week with anglers catching fish on minnows, slider grubs, crappie magnets, and various twister tails.  Hammond has still been spotty with some days of good fishing and some of tough fishing.  Anglers are finding most of the crappies hanging near rock or brush piles in 8-14 fow.  Perch and bluegills are also being caught in good numbers.  Bluegills are starting to make beds on most of the area lakes.

Hybrid stripers are being caught at both Hammond and Tioga.  Live shiners, night crawlers, and various perch or shad colored crankbaits have been best.  One group of anglers yesterday, even had a triple!  Try trolling, casting areas with nice dropoffs, or bottom fishing with live bait.  Sizes varied, but a few nice ones up to 25-26 inches were caught.

Here's a nice one from Friday.  Great catch!
