It's been another great week of fishing in Tioga County.  Water levels on Pine Creek are good, temperatures are good, and the fly hatches have been great.  Sruface activity has varied place to place, but from the DHALO to Galeton, hatches have been strong.  Sulphurs, light cahills, bwos, and caddis are making up the bulk of the hatches.  Most of the action is in the evening.  The drakes are about over with, other than some of the upper reaches or pine and on the smaller tribs, but anglers have still been able to pick up fish on coffin flies too.  nymphing has been great with sulphur numphs, caddis pupa, and pheasant tails being the top producers.

The lakes are fishing well.  Perch and crappies are being caught in good numbers on Tioga Lake.  On Hammond, the crappie bite continues to be tough but they are catching some nice ones.  Perch and bluegills have been biting well.  live minnows and pieces of night crawler have been best.

Cowanesque fished well all week.  Bass, muskies, carp, and panfish are all biting.  Nelson falls and the spillway are both yielding good action too.  On clearer days, the topwater bite has been great for smallmouth.  size 90 whopper ploppers continue to be a favorite.  subsurface jigs, cranks, and spinnerbaits are all working.

It should be another great weekend to be out on the water.  Get out and enjoy it.

Gavin with his first musky.  Great job!!
