5/4/16 Crappies are still in prespawn mode and water temperatures have dropped into the low 50's. We need a good 3 or 4 days of warm weather to push the fish into the spawn, and bring them in shore. Right now, we are still catching them, but it is spotty. Most of the fish are in the 11-13 inch range with only a handful of smaller ones and a few even bigger. The schools are holding in deeper water just off of the spawning grounds and we are picking them up, fishing a minnow about 2-2.5 feet under a float.
