Hammond Lake Hybrid striped bass July

Recent rains helped bring levles on Pine Creek back to normal.  We will need more rain to stay at this level, as they are dropping again, but right now it looks great!  Water temps dropped into the high 60's to low 70's.  If you're targetting trout, early mornings and evenings will be best when the water is cooler.  Smallmouth are also biting well.  Crayfish patterns, small streamers, and various spinners continue to work well.

Tioga, Hammond & Cowanesque are fishing well still with a mix of smallmouth, largemouth, hybrids stipers, and various panfish being caught.  A few anglers are targetting carp too wtih good success.  Corn is your best bet for the carp.  Bass are scattered.  Some are shallow, some are out in deeper water.  Look for weeds, timber, and dropoffs to find fish.  The offshore cranking bite is good again this year.  Try a Strike King 3XD or 5XD in sexy shad, sexy blue back herring, or chartreuse sexy shad.  weed growth varies from lake to lake.  Various plastics are working too.  Green pumpkin, baby bass, watermelon, and black/blue have been the most popular colors.  Hybrid stripers are biting still on hammond.  Most are being caught trolling with crawler harnesses or crankbaits.  Look for dropoffs and drag baits through these areas.

Beechwood Lake is fishing well with anglers catching lots of bass and nice pickerel.  A few walleyes are being caught too.  Trolling crawler harnsses has been best for walleye.  Blue, silver, purple, and copper blades are working.  Bass anglers are catching fish on frogs, whopper ploppers, and a variety of plastics.

Hills Creek Lake- Bass fishing continues to be good here.  Whopper ploppers on the weed edges, and frogs are working well.  Try a 90 or 110 plopper in Bone or bluegills during these sunny days for best results.  Again, soft plastics are also working.  Wacky rigged senkos or Strike King Ochos are popular choices in greens, and junebug colors

Hamilton Lake- Anglers are catching a variety of panfish, and occassional trout still.  Trout are holding deep and trolling has been best for them.  Bass are biting along the shore lines.  Soft plastics, jigs, and jerkbaits were all popular this week.  Evenings and mornings, anglers did well with topwater baits too.  Poppers, spooks, and whopper ploppers were favorites in bone, shad, chrome, and frog colors.

Good luck fishing!
