Things are shaping up for an early ice season here in Tioga County. Most of the area lakes are starting to freeze. We will begin checking ice condtions in December. On Saturday, Hills Creek was about 1/2 covered with slushy ice. This should cap over soon, but with warm temperatures coming up over the weekend, it's unlikely to be fishable for a few weeks. Check back for updates! We will post regularly throughout the winter both here, on our facebook page, and on some of the other ice fishing forums, including Ice Shanty and Ice Fishing 247.
Pine Creek is at great levels now and a few people are catching trout on streamer patterns and small crankbaits.
Tioga and Cowanesque spillways are looking good too with anglers having some success with walleyes and perch. Live fatheads or shiners have been the most popular.
