3/30 Again, mixed reports around the county. High winds and fluctuating temperatures have made for some tough fishing. Numerous trout are still being caught in Hamilton and Beechwood. Butterworms, fatheads, and various spinners have all been popular. Small stickbaits and spoons are also working well. Plain silver and other brighter color worked best. Some panfish are being caught too using crawlers, mealworms, and fatheads.
Hammond has been very slow so far. Very few crappies are being caught. Water needs to warm up and clear up som before things really start turning on. A few bass are being caught still, but again, its pretty slow going. Tioga Lake will open this week too. No reports from Cowanesque.
Hills Creek is putting out some nice bass and pickerel. jerkbaits, particularly the rapala X-rap and Shadow Rap, are working well for them.
