Anglers are fishing Hamilton, Beechwood, and Hills Creek. All three lakes have 4-5.5 inches of ice. Expect to find some areas of thinner ice still too. Over the weekend we had 8-12 inches of snow come down. Heavy winds pushed a lot of it around too. There is water/slush underneath the snow. Today and tomorrow we are forecasted to get a little rain. This should help compact the snow so it can start refreezing again. Temperatures after tomorrow are great to continue to build ice through the end of the month. We have had limited reports from other lakes, but a few people have been on Pisgah and Lyman Run. We do not have an update on ice conditions for these lakes.
Hills Creek lake has been producing some nice perch and bluegills throughout the stumps end and towards the dam. Waxworms have been the preferred bait. Some of the larger perch are being caught on minnows and shiners.
Hamilton Lake has fished well for trout all season. A variety of jigging spoons tipped with waxworms or maggots have been working. Swedish Pimples, VMC tumbler spoons, and the Custom Jigs & Spins Slender spoon have all been popular. Silvers, Greens, Golds, and Orange colors have been best. They are catching some too on similar colored jigs. Perch, crappies, and bluegills are being caught too. Deeper water has been key for the best panfish bite.
Good luck and be safe out there. Always check conditions yourself before heading out onto the lakes
