Ice fishing continues to be good around the county. Hamilton, Hills Creek, and Beechwood have best. A few people have been fishing the Army Corps lakes and continue to note a slow bite. Out of the area, anglers are fishing Pisgah, Rose Valley, and Lyman Run too.
Hills Creek- The stumps end continues to be the most popular with good catches of bluegills, crappies, bass, and pickerel. Target water in 4-8 feet. Shallower/weedy areas are holding bass, pickerel, and bluegills. Crappies have been out slightly deeper for the most part, in 6-8 fow. Perch are being caught sporadically in a variety of depths. Greens, whites, and glows are still the most popular colors
Beechwood is fishing well for trout and a variety of panfish. Some decent crappies are being caught using minnows and waxworms. Most noted lots of little perch still too. A few large bass and pickerel are being caught on shiners.
Good luck and be safe out there! The weather looks good to hold ice for another couple weeks.
