12/31/2020 **Tioga County ICE Update**
We end the year on a good note with lots of anglers out on the ice today at Beechwood and Hills Creek Lake. Hamilton has come down, but it is still a mess with ice covered parking lots, muddy water, and ice sheets covering the banks. We did not check Nessmuk, however a few people have fished there this week too. These reports are for your reference only. ALWAYS check conditions yourself before venturing onto the ice. Conditions are variable from one spot to the next and with a little rain expected, areas with incoming water and old holes can be potentially dangerous.
We talked to a number of anglers today out on the ice. Access from either launch was no problem. We found 5.5-6.5 inches of ice made up of a mix of 2-3" of black ice and 3-3.5 inches of white ice over top of it. Some spots have more white ice than others. Again, be sure to check conditions from spot to spot. Water clarity varied from slightly stained to clear.
A few people were out fishing. The road going is slick, but we had no issues accessing the lake at the boat launch. The ice is dirty at the launch and water levels have receded some since last week. We found about 5.5-6" of ice with about 3-4" of black ice and white ice over the top.
The Corps lakes also remain unfishable at this time. We have not checked Lyman Run Lake, but reports from customers today have indicated it is also unfishable.
Tackle Shack is open normal hours through the holiday weekend. Good luck and be safe out there.
