The Corps lakes are up and dirty, but all 3 are open, and some nice fish are being caught, including some big bass, a few stripers, and a few muskies.
Water temps are in the high 50's and they should climb throughout the week. Clarity is also improving. Crappie fishing has been best in the morning and evening. Things are still slower, but they're being caught on both live minnows and a variety of jigs. Brighter colors have been best. Most of the fish are still holding off shore.
The Upper Pine Creek Trout Tournament is this weekend too! Pine was high all week, but it is dropping pretty quickly and should be in prime shape for the weekend. Red worms, butterworms, phoebes, and heavier roostertails this week. Chartreuse powerbait was also popular. March Browns are starting to hatch and anglers have had good success subsurface with streamers and nymph patterns.
Hamilton Lake is up and dirty as well. Anglers were caught trout aruond the dock. Powerbait continues to be very good. Corn yellow, Chartreuse, Spring Green, and Yellow were all popular. Some nice bass are being caught on jigs, jerkbaits, live minnows, and nightcrawlers too.
Beechwood Lake was restocked last week and some nice trout are being caught. Here too, powerbait has been popular, as well as a variety of spinners and spoons. Joe's flies continues to be a favorite for trout across the county
