The bite is about in full swing here in Tioga County with good reports coming from most all of the lakes and streams.  Anglers are doing well on trout, bass, crappies, and more.

Hammond/Tioga- Crappies are starting to move in shore.  Bright, sunny days have kept the fish deeper through the middle part of the day and schools are moving shallow in the evenings.  Most anglers noted good catches on both lakes.  Clarity has improved greatly on both.  Crappie Magnets, Trout Magnets, Slider Grubs, and various other plastics have been popular.  Chartruese, Shad, White, Junebug, and similar colors are working.  Trollers are catching them offshore along dropoffs and weed edges using Berkley Flicker Shad and Rapala Shad Raps.  Brighter colors have been best.  Live minnows are also working well. Perch, bluegills, and rock bass are all being caught in a similar fashion. A few hybrid stripers and walleyes are being caught too.  Bass are biting well with jerkbaits, jigs, and squarebills working best.  Shad colored hard baits or green pumpkin shades of soft plastics and jigs have been best.

Cowanesque- Crappies are being caught around standing timber and fallen trees throughout the lake.  There is a crappie tournament there this Sunday, May 23rd hosted by CV Bass League.  You can find that info online here- https://cvbassleague2017.blogspot.com/p/schedules.html.  Stripers and muskies have also been caught all week.  Swimbaits, topwater, and live suckers were all popular.  The annual kid's fishing derby is scheduled here for June 5th at Lawrence Recreation area. More info can be found here- https://www.wellsborotackleshack.com/index.php/events/annual-kid-s-fishing-derby

Pine Creek- Pine is at great levels.  Butterworms, wax worms, salmon eggs, and a variety of spinners and spoons have been working.  Green, brown, and black rooster tails have been particularly popular.  For salmon eggs, Pink Garlic and natural colored eggs were best.  March Browns are hatching and providing good dry fly action.

Hamilton Lake- Crappies are being caught in decent numbers at the dock and down from the dam side parking lot.  Trout are being caught too.  Powerbait has been particularly effective.  Corn Yellow, Chartreuse, Cheese, Spring Green and Rainbow are all working.

Beechwood Lake- Crappies are biting well.  Live minnows and trout magnets have been the most popular lately.  Trout are being caught on minnows and powerbait too.  Trollers are catching them on small stickbaits and spoons as well.
