9/28/22 Water levels and temperatures have improved.  Tiadaghton Chapter Trout Unlimited will be restocking the Keystone Select Stretch in the weed of October 9th.  A fair number of fish did make it through summer and anglers are catching some here and through most of upper Pine.  October caddis and terrestrials are around, but most anglers have been catching fish nymphing or throwing streamers.  Smallmouth are still being caught too.  

 9/1/22 Little to update still.  Water levels have improved some this week on Pine, but temps remain high and overall the creek is sitll low.   Smallies are biting on a variety of streamers, particularly through the Keystone Select stretch and farther downstream.  Fallfish are also being caught too. 

 8/7/22 Little to add from last week.  We did get a slight bump in water flows, but we are desperately in need of a few days of rain.  Smallies, fall fish, and rockbass are being caught on upper pine.  Mornings have had a good topwater bite, that dies as the day goes no.

 7/25/22 We are back with a new site and a new look. Please note, we will have few updates until things start to cool down. Pine is very warm and low. We are getting some rain, but trout fishing is done till things cool down this fall. Smallies are biting and the topwater bite has been excellent with the low water. Try Ryan's favorite, the Mr. Wiggly. Blue, mimicking a damsel or dragonfly, is a very popular pattern.

6/2/22 Green Drakes are pretty much done, but anglers are seeing brown drakes and lots of slate drakes. Sulphurs, BWOs, Yellow Sallies, and other stoneflies are also hatching. Its getting into terrestrial season now too. Make sure you have ants, beetles, and hoppers in your arsenal. Cooler weather this week should help bring water temps down.

5/30/22 Incredible hatches of Green Drakes came off last night and the fish were eating them. Carry both a dun and spinner pattern. Both are working well. The best action is from 7 to past dark.

5/29/22 The Green Drakes are here in full force! This won't last long, so get out and enjoy it while you can. BWOs, sulphurs, slate drakes, caddis, lime sallies, yellow sallies, gray fox, and more are also on the water. The last hour to two hours before dark was incredible with good numbers of rising fish. Get out and enjoy it!

5/25/22 March browns, a few types of caddis, stoneflies, sulphurs, BWOs, and more have been on the water this week. Some drakes have been reported in the region, and we expect to see big hatches of them to start very soon. It should be an excellent holiday weekend on Pine.

5/12/22 March Browns, a small dark caddis, a green bodied caddis, and a larger tan caddis are all hatching. A few small stoneflies are also hatching. Dry fly fishing has been excellent most days.

5/2/22 Lots of rising fish this weekend with Hendricksons, caddis, and a few sporadic March Browns starting to show up. These next few weeks should be HOT. Get out and enjoy it.

4/28/22 Little to update. Hendricksons and caddis have been the predominant hatches. Water levels are looking great for the weekend.

4/21/22 Pine is running at good levels with mostly clear water. Hendricksons and caddis are coming off in good numbers and fish are eating them readily. Size 14 Hendrickson dries and nymphs have been best.

4/13/22 Warmer weather has the hatches starting up nicely. Hendricksons and caddis came off well yesterday. Anglers caught some rising rise mid day on hendricksons. Subsurface, hendrickson nymphs, mop flies, pheasant tails, hares ears, perdigons, and wooly buggers are all working too. Upper Pine is scheduled to be restocked again by PFBC on 4/15.

4/9/22 Pine is up a little and slightly off color. Streamers and nymphs continue to be working best. Anglers saw little stones and a few caddis hatching this week with some surface activity. Cooler weather is expected through the next few days. Water temps are holding in the low to mid 40's.

4/4/22 We're back for another trout season and will update regularly until fall. Pine is at good levels and mostly clear. Some rain is expected later this week. Black stones have been hatching. Opening weekend success was mostly on nymphs. Mop flies were particularly popular too.

 

11/20/21 Little to update lately. With the hunting seasons kicking off, angling pressure has been at a minimum on Pine and the surrounding waterways. Warmer days have seen small hatches of BWOs and midges. Your best bet is subsurface with streamers or nymphs. Pine is running at good levels and mostly clear. Most of the leaves are off the trees, making drifts and stripping streamers easier.

11/4/21 Water levels are returning to normal with little precipitation falling this week. Falling leaves are making fishing a bit more difficult, but otherwise water clarity has improved greatly. Few people have been fishing upper Pine. Anglers were catching trout and fallfish near the confluence of Marsh Creek these past few days.

10/30/21 Heavy rains are passing through the area. Pine is up a couple feet and it will be at least a few days until it is fishable again. More rain is expected through tomorrow.

10/28/21 Upper Pine is up and off color again today. More rain is expected tomorrow and Saturday. We are getting into spawning season in the small streams. Keep an eye for redds if you do fish these streams. Hamilton Lake and Lyman Run Lake both continue to fish well for trout, despite dirty conditions. Wooly buggers and similar small streamers have been working well.

10/22/21 Heavy rains late last night brought water levels up some. This should subside by tomorrow. Reports have been much of the same as below. Trees are losing their leaves making fishing a bit more difficult throughout the region.

10/17/21 Anglers caught a few risers on Upper Pine these past few days using caddis patterns and bwos. Subsurface action was better with stoneflies, wooly buggers, mop flies, and other nymphs working well. Water levels are nice right now. Small streams have been fishing well too. Numerous anglers did well on Asaph, Straight Run, Cedar, and similar small streams. Dry droppers or small nymph rigs were best.

10/4/21 We are back up and running again after some website difficulties. Pine is at great levels right now. Anglers are catching a few trout on upper Pine. October caddis, BWO, and midge patterns have been popular, but most of the action has been subsurface with nymphs and streamers. A wet summer season helped a good number of trout hold over to the fall this year.

7/15/21 We have had quite a bit of rain lately and Pine is at better levels. Marsh Creek is dumping a lot muddy water, but upstream of there Pine is in better shape and off color. Water temps are still high and continued warm weather is expected. The small streams are in good shape with cooler water and a mix of terrestrials, yellow sallies, and caddis coming off. Inch worms and other caterpillars are prevalent now too. A small ant or beetle pattern trailing a nymph is an excellent way to target native brookies right now.

6/11/21 Water levels are on the low side but fishing continues to be very good. Slate Drakes, cahills, sulphurs, BWOs, caddis, and a few different stoneflies are coming off. Slate drake and sulphur emerger patterns have been working very well. Sulphur nymphs and isonychia (slate drake) nymphs are also working well. Keep an eye on water temps. With warm days expected, smallmouth will be a better option too until we get some more rain/cooler temps. Smaller tributaries are still cool and fishable.

6/4/21 Rains last night brought the water levels up slightly now, and rising. It has dirtied considerably on Upper Pine. This should clear by the afternoon and into tomorrow. Green Drakes are winding down, though upper stretches are still seeing decent numbers of them. Brown Drakes, Light Cahills, and Sulphurs are coming off in good numbers late in the day.

6/2/21 Excellent fishing again yesterday with a variety of bugs on the water. We saw few Green Drake duns hatch last night on the Keystone Select stretch, but thousands of spinners were in the air and fish were taking them. A few sulphurs, lime sallies, cahills, caddis, and a handful of brown drakes were on the water too. Anglers did well on BWOs and sulphurs too. Some rain is expected today with sporadic thunderstorms all week. This should help keep water levels in good shape. Temps are expected to rise sharply next week. Get out now and beat the heat. Fishing has been excellent and should continue to be very good through this weekend before temps start to climb.

6/1/21 If you weren't fishing last night...you should have been! Incredible catches and lots of rising fish. Green Drakes, Gray foxes, caddis, and a handful of brown drakes and sulphurs came off. We caught them on both a Green drake dun and the coffin fly pattern. Good reports from customers all morning so far. Get out and enjoy some fishing!

5/31/21 Pine has stayed at good levels and the bugs are hatching! Really good reports all weekend on Green Drakes, March Browns, Gray Foxes, BWOs, Sulphurs, and a handful of slate drakes. Fishing will continue to be good this week. Get out and enjoy it while you can! Dry-dropper setups with a drake trailing an emerger or nymph were particularly effective. Coffin flies were working into the night too. As the sun goes down, a coffin fly trailing a rusty spinner or sulphur spinner is an effective set up.

5/28/21 It's prime time to be out fly fishing. The Green Drakes have started and evening are fishing well. Expect to see sulphurs (16), yellow sallies (14), March Browns (12-14), plus craneflies, lime sallies, and more. We will see brown drakes and slate drakes soon. Make sure to have rusty spinners in various sizes too. A dry dropper setup has been very effective. We did well with a Drake Dun trailing a baetis nymph on a similar local stream last night. Some rain is expected today. We will try to update conditions again tomorrow, but keep an eye on the link above for an idea on water levels.

5/24/21 Evenings are fishing well with Gray foxes, March Brown spinners and sulphur duns/emergers. We expect to see Green and Brown Drakes in about a week. We have had a bunch of questions about the Brood X cicadas. Based on the maps we have seen, we do not expect to see them on Upper Pine. However, we do have fly patterns in stock if you want to travel and hit this hatch! Anglers did very well on small bead head nymphs this week. Perdigons, baetis nymphs, sulphur nymphs, and more worked well throughout the day.

5/19/21 Not much to update since our last report, but Pine is fishing well and March Browns have provided most of the action on top. Anglers have had good success running a dry dropper rig with a March brown trailing either a nymph or emerger pattern. Water levels are perfect!

5/17/21 Pine is in great shape with good hatches of March Browns and caddis. March brown dries and emergers worked well over the weekend. Some sulphurs are also showing up. It is still early, but don't forget to stock up on drake patterns. The Green and Brown drakes will be here in just a few weeks. These hatches don't last long and flies sell out fast once they start.

5/11/21 Pine is dropping steadily and anglers did well throughout the last few days. Worm patterns and nymphs fished tight to the banks worked well. March browns are coming off sporadically and a few fish are rising. Pine will be in excellent condition by the weekend. Get out and enjoy it!

5/10/21 We had a lot of rain and some snow yesterday and Pine is currently over 5 ft and muddy. It should crest in the next couple hours and start coming down. This week will be tough, but water levels should be back to fishable by the weekend. If you get out these next few days fish tight to the banks and look for areas of slower water. Larger nymphs, particularly black stones, and a variety of streamer patterns can be very effective in these conditions. Smaller mountain streams will come down faster. Good luck and be safe out there!

5/5/21 Water levels are close to back to normal now here on upper Pine. Currently its running at about 3ft on the Cedar Run gauge. Some rain showers are expected throughout the week, but levels should remain relatively stable. Hendricksons, caddis, and a handful of March Browns came off this week. Small black stones are also around. Anglers caught rising fish in some of the slack water, but nymphing and streamer fishing continues to be most effective. The small streams are in nice shape. With water levels up some, the fish are less skiddish and a variety of nymphs and dry flies are working. This is a great time to target the mountain streams like Asaph and Straight Run for wild trout. Upper Pine was restocked by the PFBC and club stockings will be happening this month too.

5/1/21 Pine is still up, but clarity has improved quite a bit on upper Pine. Anglers have been doing well today on nymphs and streamers. Weighted olive wooly buggers have been particularly popular. Pine is being stocked again on Monday too.

4/30/21 Pine is high and muddy efter yesterday's rain. Streamer fishing will be best until the water subsides. Keep an eye on the gauge above. Pine is currently over 4 ft. Under 2.5ft is prefered for most anglers. Smaller mountain streams will come down and clear faster. It'll be a good weekend for brookie fishing.

4/28/21 Upper Pine is on the low side, and very clear, for this time of the year. Caddis hatches were excellent these past few days. Some Quill Gordons are still around, plus Hendricksons were also on the water. Anglers reported March Browns on lower stretches of Pine. Hopefully we will see them soon here too on Upper Pine. Some rain is in the forecast for tomorrow and we could use a little water in the region. A variety of patterns have been productive on top with decent numbers of rising fish throughout the day. We caught fish last night on a dry dropper setup with a tan X caddis (14) pattern trailing a a small hares ear nymph (16). Just before dark, a 14 rusty spinner worked well.

4/21/21 A little rain and snow today and water temps have dropped into the 40's. Overall anglers have been having good success nymphing and are finding a few rising few in the evenings. Caddis patterns, Quill Gordons, and stone patterns were producing. Warmer weather is moving in next week. We should see Hendricksons soon! Most of Pine has been restocked in the past 10 days too.

4/11/21 Pine is in great shape right now. Little black stones are still coming off and we are starting to see a few caddis, Quill Gordons, and little BWOs. A few fish are sporadically rising. Most of the action has been sub surface. Mop flies, squirmies, stone fly patterns have been particularly productive lately. Olive and Black wooly buggers have both been productive too. We did get some rain over the past 24 hours and water levels have come up some. Pine is a nice color and we expect fishing to only improve as we get into the later part of the month. 12/15/2020 As we near the first days of winter, Pine is in great shape and anglers are catching some nice trout. The smaller tributaries are filling up again too after a tough summer. We will have little to update these next few months through the winter, but feel free to call the shop for current updates on water levels. Few people are out fishing and you can have some great times on the water, especially on warmer days. We will be launching a webstore soon too, and we expect that to go live on Jan 1. 9/12/2020 Unfortunately we continue to deal with extremely low water on all of of Pine Creek, and the surrounding water ways. Cooler weather is starting to move into the area, but we need rain badly throughout Tioga and Potter counties.

8/8/2020 Recent rains have helped water levels improve slightly, but Pine is still running very low and below normal summer flows. The smallmouth bite continues to be good through most of Pine Creek. Look for deeper runs and holes. The morning topwater bite has been great with small poppers and hopper patterns.

6/18/2020 Pine is VERY low and warm. Caddis, slate drakes, sulphurs, light cahills, yellow sallies, lime sallies, and some larger stones have been hatching, but its best to let the trout rest until we receive some rain. Thunderstorms are in the forecast most every day this week. Hopefully, we get some water. The small streams are in similar shape throughout Tioga County. While most of the Class A's will stay cooler, water levels are very low. This is a great time of year to target smallmouth on Pine, Tioga River, and Cowanesque River. Or, try fishing for a variety of warm water species on any of the 8 lakes in the Tioga-Potter area.

6/11/2020 Caddis, Slate Drakes, Sulphurs, and Light Cahills are hatching. Pine is low, very clear and warming. Cooler weather and some rain is in the forecast. Fish in the mornings and late in the day to avoid overstressing the trout. During the day, smallmouth are fun to catch and plentiful throughout Pine and many of our larger streams, like Tioga River. Small streamers, poppers, and even large dry flies, like hopper or dragonfly imitations, are all good options. Stop in and chat with Ryan for tips on where and how to catch smallies in our area.

6/7/2020 Good hatches continue on Pine and many of the surrounding small streams. Green Drakes are winding down, but carry some coffin flies for the evening spinner fall. Slate drakes, sulphurs, bwos, yellow sallies, and some larger stoneflies are coming off too. Evenings have been best for rising trout, with nymphs and streamers providing good action throughout the rest of the day. Anglers are catching some rising fish on march brown patterns and small terrestrials in the afternoons too.

6/3/2020 Green Drakes, Brown Drakes, sulphurs, yellow and lime sallies, caddis, BWOs, and very sparse light cahills are coming off. We should see slate drakes very soon too. Action continues to be good late in the day. If you're up for a fun challenge, try throwing a mouse after dark and late into the night! Big browns often feed late at night and anglers are picking up a few. The hits are explosive and exhilerating. The below fish took Soule's Disco mouse. Cast to the far bank, or as close as you can, and retrieve slow and steady.

5/29/2020 Fishing has been excellent these past few days with heavy Gray fox spinner falls, Green Drakes, Sulphurs, yellow sallies, and caddis coming off. Most of the best dry fly action has been in the evening, from 8PM till after dark. Tossing a Green drake dun trailing a rusty spinner is a great way to target fish late in the day. Water levels and conditions continue to be very good.

5/27/2020 Conditions continue to be very good with March Browns, BWOs, caddis, and some sulphurs hatching. March Browns are winding down, but the drakes will be starting soon. Make sure you have some in your box. The surrounding small streams are fishing very well too with similar hatches. March Brown spinners have been hot in the evenings.

5/19/2020 Conditions are perfect right now and anglers continue to do well on a variety of patterns. March Browns (10-12), Gray Fox (12-14), BWOs (18-20), and caddis (14-16) patterns are all producing fish. March Brown emergers (12) have been particularly popular. Expect continued good fishing throughout the week with little rain in the forecast! Subsurface, wooly buggers, zonkers, and similar streamers have been best. Olive colors have been most popular.

5/11/2020 Water levels and clarity are perfect right now. Some rain is expected tonight, but conditions should be great the rest of the week. March Browns are starting, plus caddis, Hendicksons and some small BWOs. Anglers did well these past few days on Hendricksons, March brown emergers and nymphs

5/1/2020 Heavy Rains yesterday has Pine and most streams in the area blown out. It will be at least a few days until Pine is fishable again.

4/25/2020 Anglers did well these past few days with lots of rising fish in slower water. Blue Quills are being reported in good numbers. Anglers caught fish on quills m(14's), Adams, female adams, and March Brown patterns. It will be a little while till we see a march brown hatch, but the trout were eager to take them this week. Wooly buggers in black and olive are both producing lots of fish too.

4/18/2020 Trout Season is here and despite our more limited schedule at the shop, we will be doing our best to update reports regularly once again. We appreciate your patience over the last few weeks. Its a crazy time and we appreciate your continued support.

Cold weather settled into the region these past few days and about 4-6" of snow blanketted Tioga County. Hatches earlier in the week were strong with anglers seeing hendricksons, caddis, stoneflies, and bwos. Warmer weather this week should improve fishing greatly too. Pine has been stocked. Upper Pine (Ansonia-Galeton) was stocked earlier this week.

 

 

10/24/19 Water levels are great, but anglers are fighting with falling leaves in their drifts. Wooly buggers, streamers, and various nymphs have been working. Caddis patterns and BWOs are catching some fish on top. Browns and brookies are spawning in many of the wild trout streams around the area.

9/28/19 Good hatches of cahills and caddis came off last evening and sporadic slate drakes. Terrestrial patterns continue to be important too. During the day anglers are catching fish on mop flies, copper johns, hare's ears, and a variety of other nymphs. topwater action has been best about an hour before dark. Cool nights are helping keep temps in the 60's, but we need rain bad. Pine is low and very clear. We are supposed to get a few showers this week, which should help some.

9/26/19 Upper Pine is very low and clear. Anglers are doing well in some of the deeper pockets and runs with a variety of nymphs. Larger caddis patterns, tiny BWOs and slate drake imitations have been catching fish on top in the evening hours.

9/18/19 Not much has changed this past week. Anglers noted good catches through the Keystone Select section on mop flies and isonychia nymphs these last few days.

9/9/19 Water levels, temperatures, and clarity are good. Anglers have been catching fish on terrestrials, slate drakes, and streamers. Wooly buggers and craw patterns continue to be popular for smallies.

9/2/19 Heavy rain moved through yesterday bringing Pine up a little. The water is dirty, but should clear again within a few days.

8/30/19 Temps are dropping and anglers have been catching some trout using terrestrials, streamers, slate drakes, bwos, and attractor style dries. Smallmouth are still biting well too and clouser minnows, wooly buggers, and crawfish patterns continue to produce. In some of the slower water, popper patterns have also been good. Chartreuse, yellow, and white poppers all are working.

8/17/19 Pine is at good levels and the smallmouth are biting. Terrestrials, small streamers, and small poppers are all working. Clouser minnows and crayfish imitations have been best. Sunfish, fallfish, and rock bass are all being caught too. Cooler nights and rains should help bring temps down enough for trout fishing soon too! Clarity is very good on Upper Pine too.

8/9/19 Little to add to the reports lately. Pine came up some last night with heavy rains moving through, but water levels are still good. It should clear and be in good shape again within the next few days. Smallmouth fishing throughout Pine continues to be good.

7/25/19 Water temps jumped into the high 70's and 80's early in the week, but now have dropped into the low to mid 70's with some rain and cooler nights. Smallmouth fishing has been good with clouser minnows and crayfish patterns. Large dry flies and small poppers are also working for them in evenings.

7/4/19 Light Cahills, Slate drakes, small BWOs, yellow sallies, and some caddis are still hatching. Temperatures are still good on much of upper pine, but with continued warm weather, expect to see trout moving towards cooler tributaries. Warm water and trout don't mix. As temps hit the 70's It's best to leave them alone until cooler temperatures return. Smallmouth bass are fun to target all summer and are quite plentiful throughout Pine Creek. Use a variety of streamers, poppers, or foam flies to target them. This is also a good time to start looking at some of the small streams that hold cool water year round. Target them in the mornings and evenings when temperatures are better.

6/26/19 Pine is in good shape again and anglers did well yesterday. Light cahills and slate drakes are providing most of the action.

6/24/19 Pine is high, but fishable with caution in the upper stretches. Marsh is still dirty, but it is also clearing and at better levels. Pine is dropping and should be in good shape by tomorrow afternoon. It is clearing and not much rain is expected this week. Light Cahills, yellow sallies, lime sallies, and caddis have been hatching. Fishing should be excellent again later this week!

6/21/19 Pine is very high and still rising after more rain last night. It will likely be unfishable through the weekend. The small streams in the area are in better shape and will clear quickly.

6/20/19 Pine is still running high. It has dropped a few feet, but heavy rain is coming down again today. More rain is expected tonight and It will be at least another couple days before this is better shape. Many of the small streams though are just perfect. Asaph Run is fishing very well and there are plenty of trout to catch.

6/17/19 We received about an inch of rain and Pine is running a little high and dirty. It is dropping now, but more rain is expected tonight and tomorrow. Small streams might be the best option this week. Check back for updates.

6/15/19 Water levels are great and fishing continues to be excellent! Light cahills showed up in better numbers the last few days and slate drakes continue to produce fish. A few brown drakes have been seen too. Evenings continue to fish best but anglers are catching fish throughout the day.

6/12/19 Upper Pine is just perfect right now! Last night was some of the best dry fly action of the season. Fish were readily taking a parachute slate drake and a rusty spinner. Tan and dark caddis, yellow sallies, lime sallies, and golden stones were also hatching. Fish rose steadily from about 7PM till dark. Fishing doesn't get much better. Get out and enjoy it!

6/9/19 Pine looks just perfect this morning (6:30AM). Great hatches and rising fish are being seen throughout the county. Slate Drakes, Yellow Sallies, Lime Sallies, and caddis provided most of the action these past few days. Late afternoon/evening are fishing best for rising trout. Nymphing throughout the day is producing fish too. Green Drakes are still hatching sporadically on many of the smaller streams in the area. Keep a few on hand for the evening bite.

6/7/19 Pine is finally at good levels again and is still dropping. No rain is expected and we should see excellent fishing all week! Slate Drakes (12) and more cahills (14) have been showing up, as well as yellow stoneflies (12-14), tan and dark caddis, plus a handful of other hatches. Parachute slate drakes worked well for anglers yesterday. We spent some time on Crooked Creek and found sporadic slates and some cahills hatching. Nymphing with a Rubber Prince and Halo Czech nymph worked all night. A few fish taking the slates and we caught the risers by swimming the nymphs just under the surface. The Slate drake nymph (Isonychia) is a strong swimmer and these nymphs can be fished like a small streamer with good success.

6/5/19 Pine is still a little high. Some rain is expected today and tomorrow morning. It is not expected to amount to much, but Pine will likely be running a little high still for another couple days. March Browns, sulphurs, caddis, yellow stoneflies, gray fox, light cahills, and a few green drakes were out last night towards Sylvan Glen. There is no shortage of bugs right now. Keep a variety of patterns on hand!

6/4/19 Pine is still up some but it is clearing and coming back down. Gray Fox duns, March Brown spinners, sulphurs, and a few different caddis were on the water ast night towards Gaines. A few fish were sporadically rising and we picked up a few on Green Drake spinners. Anglers saw better hatches of drakes on lower Pine. Clarity is not bad, but it is still up some. Most of this week should be excellent fishing on Pine and any of the surrounding creeks.

6/2/19 Pine came up and it is muddy today. FIshing was good the last few days, but more rain came through last night. Green drakes are hatching along with a mix of sulphurs, BWOs, yellow sallies, lime sallies, black caddis, tan caddis, and a few march browns. Expect tough fishing again on Pine for atleast another day or so. Upper Pine has been clearing fast. Again, try the small streams for good action and clearer water. Anglers have been doing well on surrounding waters in the region such as Kettle Creek, Slate Run, Cedar Run, and Little Pine.

5/30/19 Pine Creek is muddy and a little high. Upper stretches towards Galeton will clear faster, but this morning the Ansonia area is muddy and Marsh Creek is dumping muddy water in too. The small streams are up, but mostly clear. We stopped by Asaph this morning and found a few hungry fish willing to take a green mop fly. Your best bet today will be hitting the small streams.

5/29/19 Anglers did well yesterday on March brown patterns. Isonychia (Slate drakes), caddis, yellow sallies, BWO's, Sulphurs, and very sporadic green drakes have been hatching in the region. Keep a box full of these patterns on hand. Heavy rains moved through today and more rain is expected tomorrow. Expect murky water today/tomorrow. Water levels are still good as of this morning

5/27/19 Pine muddied up some last night, but it is clearing and levels are still good. March browns and caddis have been hatching and anglers were catching fish on the surface. Sulphurs have been prevalent in some of the area small streams too. With murkier conditions, don't forget your streamers!! Worm patterns are also very effective after a rain.

5/25/19 Caddis are hatching in good numbers with a few rising fish. Water levels and clarity are just perfect right now! Lots of anglers were fishing the keystone select section last night. Most of the action was subsurface through this stretch. Black wooly buggers, sulphur nymphs, march brown nymphs, caddis pupa, and most of the staple fly patterns are working. Keep a few caddis dries handy too. Reports on lower stretches of Pine have noted better hatches of march browns and sulphurs too. Evenings have fished best.

5/21/19 Caddis are still hatching with some sporadic hatches of mayflies. Cold nights are keeping water temps down and slowing the hatches. A few anglers noted lots of seed pods on the water, making it tough to spot bugs on the surface. Nymphing has been good for many anglers. Pine is at good levels this week. It should be a great holiday weekend if we don't get much more rain. Good luck out there! We will update again later this week.

5/18/19 Upper Pine is in good shape and is currently running just a little high. Anglers saw some March browns, grey caddis, and sulphurs yesterday. A few fish are rising too! It's going to be a great week. Get out and enjoy it. Again, expect heavy traffic today and tomorrow with the trout tournament

5/17/19 Pine is dropping nicely and water clarity is good. Caddis were hatching these last few days. We expect to see the March Browns very soon! Keep an eye out for them as water temperatures rise. Subsurface, march brown nymphs, caddis patterns, sulphur nymphs, and various streamers have been popular. Very little rain is in the forecast. It will be a nice weekend to be fishing! Expect extra traffic on Upper Pine. The Upper Pine Creek Trout Tournament is Saturday and Sunday.

5/13/19 Pine Came up again, and is currently over 4ft on the Cedar Run gauge. Water clarity isn't terrible in most spots on Upper Pine. Spin fishermen have been catching fish today in the Gaines area. The weather looks promising for water levels to recede more in the next few days. We will update again soon.

5/9/19 Pine is still up some, but anglers are fishing most of upper Pine. Wooly buggers worked well in olive and black. Black zonkers were also popular. Caddis are still out in good numbers.

5/5/19 Pine came up a few feet but it is dropping fast. Upper Pine is in decent shape. Ansonia downstream is very dirty and running high. The small streams are all in good shape and running clear. Hendrickson spinners were all over yesterday on the smaller waters. Caddis were out in good numbers too.

5/3/19 Water clarity is great heading into the weekend. Rain is in the forecast this afternoon. Keep an eye on the gauge above for current conditions. Pine is at good levels today. Keep a box of streamers handy if water levels start to rise. Tomorrow, the forecast calls for highs in the 60s and cloudy conditions. The smaller streams are all fishing well too. A few anglers noted good caddis hatches on Cowanesque River (elkland area) with good numbers of rising fish yesterday. Anglers on Pine did best subsurface. Small sculpin patterns, buggers, matukas, and zonkers were all popular the last few days.

4/30/19 Water temperatured dipped a few degrees these past few days. However, anglers are seeing rising trout in the afternoon and evenings. Hendricksons and caddis are hatching late in the day. Emerger patterns and nymphs fished near the surface worked for a bunch of anglers. Attractor patterns like the Royal Wulff were also popular. Sizes 12-16. Wooly buggers and worm patterns continue to work well too. Visibility has greatly improved and water levels look great today on upper Pine. Nearby, Long run and Asaph Run were just restocked this week. Asaph looks great and is flowing clear.

4/28/19 Caddis and Hendicksons were on the water yesterday with a handful of sporadic rising fish in the Keystone Select area. The water is still dirty and visibility is minimal through this stretch. Pine is clearer farther upstream. Streamers and nymphs subsurface worked well. Olive wooly buggers, black wooly buggers, and a variety of nymph patterns caught fish. This year, try one of our new patterns, 'the dirty hipster'. Its been a proven fish catcher this season. Cold rain showers are moving through the area now, but tomorrow should be a nice day to fish too.

4/27/19 We missed the majority of the rain and Pine is in good shape today. Temps are expected to drop late today with snow coming tonight into tomorrow. This will slow things down again for a few days. Get out today and enjoy it if you can! Upper Pine and down through the canyon was restocked yesterday too.

4/26/19 Pine is up a little, but upper Pine, especially towards Gaines and west is in good shape. However, more rain is on the way today. A dark colored caddis and BWOs were hatching yesterday. A few anglers noted some Hendricksons. If we don't get much rain, fishing should be good this weekend. The small streams continue to fish well. Worm patterns have been very effective all week.

4/21/19 Pine is very high after heavy rains on Friday. We will update again in a few days. The small streams are all high as well, but anglers are catching fish on worm patterns and larger nymphs.

4/19/19 Small stones and some caddis are hatching. Anglers reported a few Hendricksons, especially on the smaller streams. Still, most of the action has been sub surface. Mop flies continue to be hot. Chartruese and Cream have been the best colors. Beadhead nymphs are also working well. Unfortunately, we are now expecting a lot of rain tonight into tomorrow. Pine is up about a foot at the moment and upper pine is in good, fishable shape, but with the projected rain, both could be very high tomorrow. Keep an eye on the gauge above. The smaller streams are fishing very well. Asaph, Stony Fork, and some of the small brookie streams have been popular. These will be the first waters to clear and come down after the rain.

4/16/19 Small stones are still hatching. Water levels are up now after the last rain storm. Conditions should improve by Wednesday and not much more rain is expected, despite showers forecasted later in the week. Anglers are catching fish on a variety of streamers. Zonkers, sculpin patterns, and wooly buggers all worked well. Upper Pine Creek towards Gaines is at better levels, but again, still high. Keep an eye on the gauge above for current conditions.

4/8/19 Stones have been hatching steadily the last few days. Still most of the action has been subsurface. The Keystone Select Section was restocked and anglers were catching them this week on wooly buggers, mop flies, and a few other streamer patterns. Action should continue to improve over the next week. Get out and enjoy some fishing!

3/31/19 It's finally starting to look like spring around Tioga County and Pine is in great shape! Hatches have been minimal so far, but anglers are seeing some black stones and BWO's. Subsurface, anglers are doing well wtih buggers, small sculpin patterns, and a variety of nymphs. The Keystone select section of Pine Creek is due to be stocked this Friday! Enjoy some fishing down there this weekend.

 

 

11/12/18 Little to report lately. Pine is still running a little high, but water clarity is good. Anglers have been catching some trout on olive or black wooly buggers, various nymphs, and a variety of streamer patterns. Lyman Run and Hamilton Lakes were both restocked last month and are fishing well too.

10/15/18 A few anglers have been out in between the rain storms. Pine is still running, but the color isn't bad. With more rain on the way, it could dirty and rise again. Still, the smaller tribs are in great shape and running clear.

9/27/18 Pine is still high and muddy at this time. Most of the smaller tributaries are in great shape. High for this time of the year, but running clear.

9/19/18 Pine Creek is high and muddy after the last rain. We will update again when conditions improve

8/27/18 Pine is at good levels. Anglers have been doing well with smallmouth using small streamers, larger nymph patterns, and small poppers.

8/8/18 Pine is still slightly high, but it looked great near Ansonia. Also, the Owassee Rd is open. Anglers have been doing well with terrestrial patterns. Hoppers and ants have been the hot patterns. Try a hopper trailing a nymph for good results too. Various streamers have been producing trout and smallmouth throughout much of upper Pine.

8/2/18 Pine is still up today and we have little to report. Check the gauges for current water levels before venturing out.

7/26/18 More rain the past few days has Pine and many of the larger tribs are blown out today. Hopefully by the weekend we will have better conditions. Water levels are dropping fast again. Check the gauge above for current conditions.

7/23/18 Heavy rains brought Pine up again. Water is high and muddy today. Check the above gauge for current conditions. It is dropping fast, but more rain is expected this week.

7/20/18 Cool nights have helped drop water temps some. Early mornings and evenings have been best. Waters are warming into the low to mid 70's during the peak of afternoon heat.

7/17/18 A quick but heavy rain muddied upper Pine. Water levels did not come up much, but it will take a day or to clear. More rain is expected tonight. Much needed too!

7/16/18 Smallmouth fishing has been very good. Trout are congregated in cooler holding water. Terrestrials continue to make up most of the action. We reccomend leaving the trout alone until the weather cools again. Even catch and release fishing causes trout a lot of stress in warm weather. Target smallies or hit one of the local lakes for some great warm water action! Smaller tributaries to Pine are also in good shape and have cooler water too.

7/8/18 Recent Rains have cooled upper pine to the high 60's and low 70's. Water levels are great for wading right now. small BWOs, caddis, yellow sallies, and terrestrials are on the water. Mornings and evenings, outside of the peak heat, are best to fish. Smallmouth are biting well too.

7/3/18 No new updates. Pine continues to be very low. We need rain!

6/29/18 Despite some rain this week, Pine is still very low. Trout are packed into the feeder streams and deeper holes and conditions won't improve with temps in the 90's moving into the region. Slates, cahills, and terrestrials are on the water, however we suggest leaving the fish alone till better conditions return. Warm water is very stressful on the trout, even if you practice catch and release. The smaller mountain streams are still hold, but also low, and can be fun to target. Or, consider fishing for smallmouth on Pine. Pine is an excellent smallmouth fishery and they will bite a variety of streamers, small poppers, and even larger terrestrial patterns. Rockbass, sunfish, and fallfish are also plentiful and fun to catch.

6/20/18 Pine Creek is very low and warming. Trout are starting to stack up in feeder streams and its best to leave them alone until better conditions return. Hopefully cool nights and rain this weekend will help.

6/15/18 Good dry fly action continues on Pine. Slate drakes & BWOs have been working best. subsurface slate drake nymphs, zug bugs, and baetis patterns are working

6/11/18 BWOs, Sulphurs, and Slate drakes are all working. Pine came up only a little with yesterday's rain. Good fishing continues throughout upper Pine. Get out and enjoy it!

6/8/18 Great fishing continues! Water levels are perfect and the fish are biting! Nymphing with green drake nymphs has been very effective. On the surface, drakes, march browns, Adams, sulphurs, BWOs, rusty spinners, and Isonychia patterns are all working. Good luck this weekend!

6/5/18 Pine looks PERFECT right now and surface activity has been very good! You'll need a variety of flies to match the hatches this week. March Browns, caddis, and various stone patterns are working during the day. Mid afternoon to evening, sulphurs, green drakes, bwos, and various caddis patterns are working. Expect good hatches of green drakes all week. Brown drakes shouldn't be too far behind.

5/25/18 Pine is still high, but clearing. Gaines to Galeton is in high, but fishable shape. The Keystone select section is high and off color. Without more rain, we should have good conditions by Sunday. Most of the smaller tribs are fishing well and have better water conditions. Anglers did very well on Stony Fork, Asaph, and Long Run yesterday.

5/22/18 Water levels are rising again on Pine with about a 1/2 inch of rain falling so far. Expect dirty water these next few days. Prior to the rain, anglers did very well with green caddis patterns in the mid morning to mid afternoon. March browns Dun patterns also produced. We will update again in a few days. Check back!

5/16/18 Pine is coming back down. Without much significant rain, upper Pine Creek should be high, but fishable for the weekend.

5/14/18 Heavy rains over the weekend has Pine high and muddy. Check back for updates later this week. Prior to the rain, fishing was excellent. We excpect great fishing again as soon as it calms down. Try the smaller streams these next few days.

5/9/18 Heavy hatches continue on upper Pine. Hendricksons, Blue Quills, caddis, and sporadic March Browns are on the water. Be sure to have some rusty spinners in your box.

5/3/18 Heavy caddis hatches today! Hendrickson spinners were also on the water. A few anglers reported seeing March Browns and BWO's. Water temps and levels are great for fishing right now

4/30/18 It's going to be a great week on Pine! Fish are starting to look up. Hendricksons and caddis are hatching in decent numbers. Mid morning to mid afternoon has been the best bite. We should see improved hatches this week with warm weather coming in. Blue Quills, Quill Gordons, and March browns soon!

4/27/18 Caddis hatches were heavier these past few days. Sporadic Hendrickson hatches are coming off too. Surface activity has been minimal still, but anglers saw a few rising fish. Pine is at good levels right now.

4/23/18 (PM) Stopped at Pine Creek for a little bit tonight below the Keystone Select section. Pine is still up some, but water clarity is good, and it is fishable. Just be careful wading. A few anglers were fishing through the Keystone stretch. Water temp was about 50 degrees. Some very small caddis and various midges were hatching. We talked to some anglers earlier in the day at the shop and they noted good numbers of brown and black stoneflies too. Some rain is in the forecast for tomorrow afternoon, but most of the rest of the week looks great for some fishing.

4/23/18 (AM) Little black and brown stoneflies continue to be seen. Anglers saw good hatches of them on the upper stretches near Galeton over the weekend. Pine is still up some, but water clarity has improved greatly. A few anglers did well nymphing and throwing streamers. A few rising fish were seen sporadically in some of the slower pools too. With the current forecast, we should see great fishing coming this week!

4/20/18- Pine Creek is still high. Water is clearing, especially in the upper stretches around Gaines/Galeton. Conditions should improve by Sunday. Until then, enjoy some small stream fishing. Stonyfork, Asaph Run, and others are heavily stocked and in better shape. Or, try many of the smaller wild and native trout waters.

4/17/18- Opening weekend was great, but heavy rains the past few days has Pine blown out and muddy. Hopefully things return to normal before the weekend.

4/11/18- Little to add from last week. Pine is a nice green color right now and it should be a beautiful weekend for the trout season opener. Good luck everyone!

4/3/18 Water levels are better after rains this weekend. Stoneflies are still hatching. Anglers are finding a few rising fish these past few days and they are catching them using size 14 or 16 stonefly patterns. Subsurface, smaller streamer patterns and various nymphs are working. Squirmy wormies and mop flies continue to be a favorite. Remember, only the Keystone Select DHALO section is open to fishing right now on Upper Pine.

3/19/18 Pine is low and very clear. Little black stoneflies are hatching in good numbers. Water temps are still down in the low to mid 40's. The DHALO section has been reclassified to 'Keystone Select' this year. This still falls under DHALO regulation (artificial lures only, open to year round fishing). The number of big fish stocked this past Friday was truly impressive! Huge rainbows, big beautiful browns, and plenty of 'average' catchable size trout.

3/1/18 Pine Creek is high and off color. More rain and snow is on the way this weekend.

2/22/18 Spring is just around the corner! Few people are out fishing still and water levels have been high most of the week. Little black stones are starting to show up. It's time to start getting ready for some trout fishing!

1/9/18 The majority of Upper Pine Creek is frozen solid. Warmer weather this week might open some of it up, but as of right now, Pine is not fishable.

11/30/17 Streamers and sculpin patterns have been the ticket lately. Olive and black patterns have been best.

10/30/17 Heavy Rains these past few days have blown out Pine Creek. Use extreme caution if you get out. See above gauge for current levels.

10/4/17 Water levels are still way low, but temps have dropped to back into the low 60's. Good hatches of caddis came off these last few days. A large, October (brownish colored) caddis, and a small size 16 tan/light brown caddis have been coming off. Hoppers and ant patterns are also working.

9/20/17 Warm weather this week has pushed temps back into the 70's. We fished the DHALO yesterday for smallmouth and caught them using zonker and bugger patterns. Pine is low and very clear. A few caddis were in the air. Fallfish were sipping terrestrials off the surface in a few spots. We need some rain!

9/16/17 Water temps are dropping back in the low 60's which has helped push the trout out of the feeder creeks and back into the creek. We could definitely use some more rain. Pine and its tribs are all low right now.

8/21/17 Little to report on Pine these past few weeks. The water is still low, but temps are coming back down. Hopefully by labor day, we'll see more trout fishing activity! September/October are always great months for fishing!

7/19/17 Heat this week has slowed down the trout fishing. Slate Drakes, Cahills, and various terrestrial insects are hatching. Smallmouth are being caught on streamer patterns, small poppers, and larger nymphs too.

7/7/17 No change in reports. Water temperatures are starting to climb into the 70s. Mornings and evenings have been best with cooler temperatures. Warmer water stresses trout, even when released. Continued rain showers and cooler nights should help keep things going a bit longer, but as water warms, it is best to target other species. Smallies are a blast on the fly and plentiful throughout Pine Creek.

6/30/17 Good hatches of sulphurs, cahills, and bwos. Lots of rising fish mid morning and again in the evening.

6/25/17 Got out on Pine Creek last night below the DHALO and found some hungry fish. The water is up slightly, mostly clear, and around 68-69 degrees as of about 8PM. Sulphurs, Slate Drakes, caddis, and a few big stones were on the water.

6/19/17 Pine continues to fish well. size 16 sulphurs, size 18 BWOs, rusty spinners, and slate drakes are all producing fish. Subsurface, sulphur hymphs, pheasant tails, isonychia, mop flies, and various other patterns are working well. We did get quite a bit of rain today. expect a little color in the water for the next day or two.

6/13/17 Renee and I hit Pine in Gaines area last night. Again, lots of rising fish. Hatches were light, but the fish were active. We got them on top using slate drakes, sulphur emergers, and rusty spinners

6/12/17 GREAT hatches and LOTS of rising fish on Upper Pine Creek!! Anglers are doing well on slate drakes, cahills, and sulphurs. rusty and creme colored spinners are working well just before dark too. Get out and enjoy it!

6/10/17 Another good couple nights of fishing. Anglers are doing well on sulphurs, cahills, and bwos. Emerger patterns have been particularly effective. Before dark, cream or rusty spinners have been the ticket. Cahills in size 12, sulphurs/bwos in 16's.

6/7/17 A little rain again yesterday is keeping Pine up a little. Water clarity is still good. Sulphurs, Cahills, and BWOs have been yielding the best action. Anglers saw a few coffin flies still last night and caught fish on them. Some brown drakes on the water as well. Evening has been best.

6/5/17 Pine Creek is in great shape right now. slightly up, but water clarity is very good. Recent rains have kept the temperatures down too. A good sulphur hatch with sporadic cahills came off last night in the DHALO. Drakes are winding down in this area, but they are seeing a few spinners still in the evening. Be sure you have some rusty and cream spinners in your box for the evening spinner fall. Action has been good for many from 6PM-dark.

5/31/17 Pine colored up with yesterdays rain. Above Marsh looks better. It should clear up by tomorrow. Sulphurs, March Browns, BWOs, and Green Drakes have been working. With the water coming up some yesterday, streamers were popular in the afternoon.

5/25/17 A little rain today, but when it stopped, the green drakes started!! Not huge numbers, but enough to get the fish interested. Try a green drake wiggle nymph or emerger pattern. Size 16 BWOs and Size 14 Sulphurs produced fish today too.

5/24/17 Quite an assortment of bugs this week. March Browns, BWOs, Sulphurs, Cahills, caddis. Sporadic Green & Brown drakes.

5/19/17 Good reports of March Browns, BWO's, and caddis last night in Gaines area. Should be a great week on the water. Get out and enjoy it!!

5/18/17 A number of caddis and a handful of March browns have made up most of the hatches this week. afternoons and evenigns have fished best for most people. nymphs and streamers are producing well. olive, brown, and black wooly buggers have been particularly popular. Apple Caddis patterns have worked well on the surface. Sulphurs, BWO's should be happening any day now too! March browns are in full swing on the lower parts of pine.

5/14/17 Forunately, we have missed most of the rain and water levels are looking very good right now. Clarity is also very good. Most fish are being caught subsurface. March brown nymphs, sulphur nymphs, caddis pupa, worm patterns, and prince nymphs were all popular. our UV patterns continue to be a hit again this year too. These next few days, water temps should start rising again and with that, dry fly action should improve. Anglers have been seeing some flies in the air, but little topwater action.

5/10/17 Again, better water levels today. We stopped by a small feeder stream last night and saw good numbers of caddis, midges and rusty spinners in the air. water clarity on Pine was much better. A few more dry, warmer days, and fishing should be great for the weekend!!

5/9/17 Pine is coming down still. Water clarity has improved a lot. A few anglers noted that there were some fish rising to a caddis hatch tight to the banks. Streamers have been the ticket for most fishermen though. By the weekend, water levels should be closer to normal.

5/8/17 Pine has come down about 2 feet since Saturday. It is still very high and muddy. With dry weather in the forecast this week, things should improve by next weekend. Keep checking back for updates!

5/6/17 Pine Creek is blown out again and still rising. Be safe out there folks. With more rain in the forecast, it will be a little while until conditions improve. Click the above link for current USGS date. Gauge height of 2.5 is considered good fishable conditions by many anglers. As you'll see, we are WAY above that right now.

5/4/17 Good numbers of caddis are still on the stream. Cold temps these last few days have cooled Pine down a few degrees.

5/1/17 Pine Looks great and the fish are biting! Good numbers of rising trout late morning into the afternoon. Hendricksons, Blue Quills, Apple Caddis, yellow stones, and tan caddis have been hatching. A few March Browns have been seen. We expect to see bigger hatches of them soon. Water levels and clarity are good.

4/24/17 A few anglers have been doing well on streamers from Gaines west on Pine Creek. Water levels remain up, but clarity is good.

4/21/17 Heavy Rains over night have blown out Pine Creek and most of the local streams. It will be a few days before things return to good levels again.

4/18/17 Numerous anglers reported excellent hatches on Pine yesterday and plenty of rising trout. Blue Quills, Hendricksons, Quill Gordons, and lots of caddis were on the water. Dry and emerger patterns worked well

4/16/17 Opening day was a success for many anglers. Quill Gordons, caddis, and a few BWOs were on Pine. Anglers caught fish on a variety of patterns. Wooly buggers, mop flies, and early stonefly patterns were particularly popular.

4/12/17 Good weather has Pine looking great for opening day. Anglers reported seeing a few caddis and stoneflies, but no significant hatches on Upper Pine. 1/10/17 Bitter cold has Pine starting to freeze. Temps later in the week could open it back up, especially with a little rain.

1/7/17 Happy New Year everyone! Pine is still open with very little ice. Anglers have been catching fish on upper Pine Creek. Center town lake in Galeton has fished well too and as of yesterday was still completely ice free. Good luck out there!

12/13 Very few fishermen out. I don't expect many more updates until spring. Keep an eye out for ice fishing reports though!

11/18 No changes. streamers have been working for trout.

11/12 Pine Creek is at great levels! Subsurface patterns have been best. Nymphing with caddis pupa and worm patterns has produced fish. Streamers are also working. Few people are fishing, so there's lots of open water for you to enjoy!

11/2 After a second spat of heavy rains, Pine is back to fishable levels. Few people are fishing upper pine, but those that are, are catching them on streamers and nymphs. If you're looking for a change of scenery, check out Hamilton or Lyman Lakes. Both were restocked early this month and anglers have been having a great time catching them. Attractor or terrestrial patterns on the surface and various streamers are working. Good luck out there!

10/26 Pine Creek is back down to fishable levels. Temps in the low 50's.

10/22 Pine is blown out after heavy rains these past few days. See above gauge for some reference. It will be a few days till Pine is back to fishable levels again.

10/5 A large tan caddis and some stoneflies were hatching these past few days. Subsurface action has been best still. One angler reported catching a few browns on a topwater mouse pattern after dark too! Various streamers are working too, including olive wooly buggers, black wooly buggers, and black nosed dace.

9/29 Water temps continue to hold in the low to mid 60s in most of upper Pine. Rain today, and shortening days should help keep temps down. Water levels have not improved much. Anglers are seeing caddis and various terrestrials on the surface. Fallfish, smallmouth, and some trout are being caught on streamers and nymphs. Surface activity has been minimal.

9/19 Water temps have dropped back to the low to mid 60's and the trout have been pretty active! Water levels are still awful, but we did get about an inch of rain last night. We need 4 or 5 more nights of that though to make a big difference. Anglers are seeing a few caddis and terrestrials on the water and trout eagily took nymph and streamer patterns. Fall fishing is finally here! Get out and enjoy it!

9/8 No change in reports this week.

9/1 Pine has dropped to a trickle once again. Temperatures are improving though. Again, we should see favorable temps to fish trout in the next couple weeks. Smallmouth have been very active this past week. Craw and sculpin patterns are working very well! The confluence of Marsh Creek has been a popular spot. Most any of the deeper holes and runs are holding good numbers of smallmouth.

8/24 Chilly nights are helping water temps drop. It is still on the upper end of 'tolerable' for trout, but with more cooler weather coming, we should see Pine return to favorable conditions soon. Anglers are seeing a few rising fish and some have moved away from the coldwater tributaries. The long term forecast looks good to drop temps into the mid 60's after Labor Day.

8/17 Water levels are nearing August norms. Smallmouth action continues to be good. Try a clouser minnow, wooly bugger, or crayfish pattern. Anglers did well this week between the confluence of Marsh Creek and the Rexford bridge. A few anglers headed south to Slate and Cedar Run and found better water temperatures and hungry trout.

8/10 Some rain this morning and last night. Not enough to help. If you're itching to hit some fish on the fly, check out any of the local lakes! Every evening the panfish have been very active. Small poppers, terrestrial patterns, or attractor dries will all work.

8/5 It's been a good week for catching smallmouth, rockbass, and fallfish! Squirmy worms and San Juan worms worked well. Anglers caught smallmouth on small Gaines poppers, and various small streamers. No change in water levels.

8/1 Still no changes in the report, but rain this weekend helped bring water levels up slightly. Hopefully August will be kinder to us.

7/23 Smallmouth bite has been great through the canyon. Small poppers sand streames are working well. Water levels are continue to drop. Many noted its 'lowest we've ever seen Pine.' No relief in sight this week. Anglers noted that hte fish are very line shy. Early morning or evening has been best. Use a flourocarbon leader to entice finicky fish.

7/17 We have finally had a few showers move through the area, but it has not been enough to help water levels at all. No change in below reports.

7/12 Need rain............ Leave the trout alone until things improve. Some of the smaller mountain streams are still cool enough to fish, though again, water levels are very poor.

7/9Ants and beetles are starting to be more prevelant on the water. Rain last night did not help water levels at all. No changes from below reports.

7/1 Water levels continue to drop on Pine Creek. Trout are packing into colder water refuges in many areas. We need rain badly. I would strongly suggest leaving them alone until conditions improve. However, a few anglers have targetted them on Upper Pine using various streamers and nymphs late in the evenings and into the night, after things cool down some. Rain again bypassed us this week. Target smallmouth or even rockbass if you want to fish Pine. There's plenty of them to catch and unlike the trout, they're loving the warmer conditions.

6/26 Talked to a number of customers yesterday that fished Pine between Ansonia and Gaines. BWOs and caddis patterns worked well. Sizes 16-18. Terrestrial patterns are also catching fish. One group had good success on a black ant pattern. Water levels continue to drop. See above gauge at Cedar Run. Pine is nearing all time lows. A few anglers did well on the smallmouth using isonychia nymphs and small wooly buggers too.

6/24 Pine is extremely LOW. Cool nights are helping keep temps in the low 70's, but continued heat threatens to push the trout into cooler water tributaries. We need rain very badly. Fly hatches continue to be the same as below. BWOs, caddis, slate drakes., yellow sallies, cahills. Remember though, warm water is tough on the trout and extra stress from fighting them can be lethal! Get them to the net as quick as you can and help revive them before release. Personally, I won't be fishing for trout on Pine until conditions improve. On the flip side, bass fishing is improving and the smallies are hungry on Pine and the other local waters! Try a small streamer or crayfish pattern in the creeks, or head to the lakes and enjoy some topwater action with poppers and hair bugs.

6/19 Fished from about 8PM-9:30ish and caught a bunch of browns and fallfish just below the DHALO. A variety of bugs were in the air and I fooled them with a parachute BWO, a BWO emerger, an X-caddis, and a yellow sally. Saw some of these big stones hatching. Not many, but the fish didn't let them get very far without eating them! Pine is very low and crystal clear. I was surprised to see at least 2, possibly 3, different golden rainbows in this stretch too.

6/17 Fished Pine again last night below Owassee. Water levels have not changed, however it did cool down just a little. The water is still crystal clear and very low. Hatches were light last night, but there was a handful of tan caddis, some slate drakes, some cahills, and various other bugs on the water. Fish seemed to be keyed in on the caddis. We got a few on a size 16 X-caddis. They did not seem interested in a standard elk hair caddis or similar high floating pattern. There were few fish rising, but those that were, were very aggressive, often leaping out of the water to take a fly.

6/16 Finally, we got some much needed rain. I have not been able to check Pine yet today, but according to the above gauge, it does not look like Pine Creek came up too much. Anglers are catching fish on a variety of patterns still. Customers yesterday noted size 18, or smaller, BWO emergers were working well. Others noted a continuation of our last few reports. Caddis, sulphurs, BWOs,, cahills, and slate drakes. Subsurface, cahill nymphs, caddis pupa, pheasant tails, sulphur nymphs, and various streamers are catching fish.

6/15 Fished below Owasee last night. Pine is VERY LOW. We need rain badly. Bug activity was minimal, but Light Cahills, caddis, a few stoneflies, and a few slate drake spinners were in the air. Caught fish on a size 16 dark caddis pattern, a size 16 tan sparkle pupa, a size 12 light cahill dun, and a 12 rusty spinner.

6/11 Addendum- Customer was nice enough to inform us the BWO's were heavy this morning around 9 or 10 AM. Action should be great again this evening. Storms were expected today, but its almost noon and nothing has passed through. The radar looks clear for the rest of the day too.

6/11 We fished just below the DHALO last night and WOW are there a lot of bugs hatching. Light Cahills, sulphurs, BWOs, a few different caddis, yellow sallies, and a number of other bugs were coming off. Heavy pressure in the upper end of the DHALO. the first few parking areas on the Owassee road were packed with fishermen. Downstream farther, there were few people and plenty of rising fish. We caught them on Cahill and Sulphur emergers. I suspect a cahill or sulphur spinner would have also worked well. The water is crystal clear and low, but temperatures have dropped back into the mid 60's. Wildlife was very active and we saw a small bear and a number of deer. Couldn't have asked for a nicer night. Rain is expected today, and we need it for sure. Tomorrow, the forecast looks better. Get out and enjoy some fishing!
