Trout Season is here! It was a busy weekend with anglers hitting all of the local lakes and streams. Stony Fork Creek, Pine Creek, Hamilton Lake, and Beechwood were particularly popular destinations. Waxworms, garlic pink salmon eggs, redworms, corn yellow powerbait, and a variety of spinners were all working well. Water temps are still quite chilly, but warmer weather is finally on its way.
Spillway action has started to pick up again with anglers catching perch, crappies, walleye, and some smallmouth in both Tioga and Cowanesque. Keitech swimbaits have been most popular, but anglers are catching fish on twister tail grubs, medium shiners, and fatheads too.
The docks are in at Hammond and the South Shore dock is in at Cowanesque. We need a streak of warm weather to really get the bite fired up. A few people were out catching perch, but the btie has been slow. Another week and things should pick up.
Good luck fishing!
