12/27/2022 First Ice is here! Lots of anglers fishing! Tioga County Fishing Report
12/27/2022
Ice season is off to a good start with anglers fishing all of the smaller lakes in the area. The Corps lakes are also frozen, however, they are not being fished yet and we do not have an ice update just yet. We will post conditions on Facebook, Ice Shanty, and our websites later this week. Most of the soft spots and ratty edges have tightened up since our last report. Anglers are fishing Nessmuk, Hills Creek, Hamilton, and Beechwood. We do not have condition updates, but customers have said they are fishing Lyman Run, Little Pine, and Rose Valley as well. Wherever you go, always be sure to check conditions yourself before venturing onto the lakes.
Most reported a slower bite over the weekend with a lingering cold front slowing things down. The water is slightly off color still too form last week's rain. Panfish are being caught mostly on wax worms and a variety of jigs. Gold, Glow, Green, and Wonderbread all worked well. Minnows are working for trout, bass, and pickerel too. A few warmer days are expected later this week. Check back for more reports. A warm front moving in should help fire the bite up too!
Good luck and be safe out there.
