Temps stays below freezing all weekend and the lakes built ice. Nearly all of the open water has refrozen on the smaller lakes. This is new and likely thin ice. These reports are for your reference only. With variable weather, we will continue to see variable conditions with thin spots on all of the lakes. Always check conditions yourself before venturing onto the ice.
Beechwood Lake- A few people were fishing and the lake looks to have completely refrozen. The launch area is refrozen, broken ice, but we got on the lake easily from the concrete wall. We worked diagonally out towards the dam, finding roughly 4.75" to 5.25" of mostly bubbled black ice. Scroll back to previous posts to see areas that were open last week. These areas looked frozen, but will be thin.
Hamilton- Hamilton has about fully refrozen. The upper end was mostly open last week. The edges are mostly refrozen broken sheets and are still thin on the dam end. Ice at the launch was too thin to check. We were able to get on at the bottom of the hill from the dam end parking lot. Ice varied from roughly 3.5-4.25". Ice is very bubbled.
Nessmuk- The edge was very thin at the boat launch and we were unable to get on the lake. Everything has refrozen that we could see on both ends of the lake.
Hills Creek State Park- Both launches were solid and easy to access. About a dozen people were out fishing throughout the lake. Ice thicknesses varied from 4-5.5". There is a small patch of open water in front of the beach, and thinner ice in this area too. The lake was extra busy yesterday too.
Good luck and be safe out there. We will update again on Friday. Check out Facebook page for pictures and updates. Reports are posted there first, then shared to our other pages.
