Like much of the region, rain moved through the area most of Thursday. With that in mind, we only checked Beechwood and Hills Creek. The others were unfishable prior to the weather. These reports are for your reference only. Expect to find variable conditions. Check conditions yourself if you head out fishing. Weather looks good to improve conditions over the coming weeks. Most days will be near or below freezing through the end of the month.

 

Hills Creek State Park- The edge at the stumps launch was broken and the swampy area to the left opened up some. We got on the lake to the right of the launch, spudding straight out to, towards the middle, finding ice measurements between 4 and 4 1/2". Some spots had softer ice, particular near some of the stumps. From there, we went to the Pines launch. Here the edge was also broken, but we got on to the left of the concrete slab. Ice measurements varied with some spots with just over 3 1/2" and some with closer to 4 1/2". No one was on the lake when were there today. The edge in front of the beach is open again. Areas that were thinner before will likely be thin again too.

 

Beechwood- Most the open areas that refroze are open again. The water is up a little and the edge was water/broken ice at the boat launch. We did not attempt to get on the lake. The ice was soft coming off the wall too. Areas of open water were to the left where the pipe comes under the road and on the far side of the lake.
