Trout season is in full swing here in Tioga County and fishing has been excellent across the board. Anglers are doing well on all of the stocked waters, plus many of the small brookie streams. Powerbait, butterworms, minnows, and a variety of spoons and spinners are working best on Hamilton and Beechwood Lakes. Chartreuse and Corn Yellow Powerbaits are working best. In the streams, redworms, butterworms, and wax worms have been the ticket. Salmon eggs are also working with Pink Garlic and Pink Shrimp being the most popular.
Fly hatches are starting to kick off. Anglers are seeing some early stones still plus some caddis and BWOs. We expect to see Hendricksons very soon too.
Crappies fishing has been slow yet with lake temperatures hovering in the high 40's, but the warm weather this week should push temps into the mid 50's and really get things going.
