8/10/16 Last night I rode along with my buddy Mike for the CV league tuesday night tournament on Hammond. Water temps when we arrived were 82-84 at the docks. By weigh in time, they had cooled to 77/78. This end of the lake was very dirty.
Anglers fished all over the lake, but we found all of ours very shallow in the no wake zone. Mike and I caught about a dozen fish in 1-4 feet of water. Every piece or timber and every weed bed had a fish or two holding in it. Creature baits were key. We threw Reaction Innovations Sweet Beavers and Yamamato Flappin hogs. A couple beaver colors worked- Waterbug, Okechobee Craw, and Hematoma. Flappin hogs were black with blue flake.
Other anglers caught them throwing crankbaits on the dropoffs along 287, and dropshotting the dropoffs and weed edges towards the dam.
1st place with 7 lbs 13 oz. Biggest was just over 3.5 lbs.
